The downtown and surrounding areas of Bridgeport, AL, are packed full of historical information. The building that houses City of Bridgeport Drugs is one of the many buildings that has numerous stories and history within its walls.

Completed in 1893, the building has been a hotel, a bank, and now a pharmacy. At one time, it housed a bowling alley in its basement. It initially was four stories.

In 1937, the building burnt and was rebuilt to be a single-story building. In early 2020, the building was remodeled, paid in part by a historical grant given to the City of Bridgeport.

In December 2020, the pharmacy served its first customers. The historical and physical integrity was preserved as much as possible during remodel. The original bank drive-thru window is still being used.

As you walk through the doors, you will feel a real sense of history with many pharmaceutical antiques being displayed throughout the pharmacy. You will realize that you are at home with the friendly staff of this locally owned and operated pharmacy that proudly serves Bridgeport and surrounding communities.
